Oracle reported fiscal first-quarter 2027 results on September 10, 2026, posting revenue of $19.35 billion, up 30% year-over-year and above the $19.14 billion analysts expected. Cloud revenue rose 62% to $11.61 billion, and cloud infrastructure revenue more than doubled to $7.4 billion, both topping estimates.

Shares initially jumped as much as 7-8% in early trading on September 11 on the strength of those numbers and Oracle's $638 billion AI-related order backlog. But the stock reversed over the session and closed the day down roughly 1.6-2%.

Investors shifted focus from the revenue beat to Oracle's balance sheet: capital expenditures tied to its AI data-center buildout have pushed free cash flow negative and debt to roughly $125 billion, concerns that outweighed the headline growth figures by the close.

The community had put 41% odds on Oracle closing higher, and the majority view proved correct: despite beating on both revenue and cloud growth, the stock finished lower, extending a decline that has left Oracle down about 20% for the year.
