With nearly all precincts reporting, Marshall took roughly 80% of the vote to about 20% for his sole primary challenger, physician Pond Naramore, a margin of roughly 60 percentage points.
Marshall's decisive win reflects his incumbency and an endorsement from President Donald Trump, which helped him turn back a longshot primary bid. He advances to face Democratic nominee Rev. Adam Hamilton, who emerged from a crowded 11-candidate Democratic field, in the November general election for the Kansas Senate seat.
The result was part of a broader Aug. 4 Kansas primary night that also included a competitive, Trump-endorsed race for governor won by state Senate President Ty Masterson.
