"The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Series at the Sept. 14, 2026 ceremony, ending "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver"'s run of 10 consecutive wins in the category. Colbert's show, which had ended its CBS run four months before the ceremony, beat Oliver's show along with "The Daily Show," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and "Saturday Night Live."
The category is judged as an "area award" that can recognize multiple nominees clearing a high vote threshold, but this year Colbert's program was the sole winner, taking the prize for its final season on the air.
